What you need

  • The EACC self-declaration form, filled in twice (two copies)
  • Copy of your National ID or passport
  • Copy of your KRA PIN certificate
  • Copies of your academic certificates (KCSE, diploma, degree)
  • A Commissioner for Oaths or Magistrate to witness your signature

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) checks the integrity of people being considered for public jobs, as required by Chapter Six of the Constitution. Instead of a certificate you collect, you fill in a self-declaration form, and the EACC reports its findings on shortlisted candidates directly to the employer.

Step by step: applying in person

  1. Download the self-declaration form from the EACC website.
  2. Fill it in twice (two copies), clearly and completely.
  3. Sign it before a Commissioner for Oaths or a Magistrate, who witnesses your signature and stamps the form.
  4. Attach copies of your ID or passport, KRA PIN certificate and academic certificates (KCSE, diploma, degree).
  5. Submit it at the EACC head office (Integrity Centre, Nairobi) or any EACC regional office. Someone else can drop it off for you.
  6. Keep your stamped copy as proof that you applied.

Applying online

The EACC also accepts applications online through its Adili portal (adili.eacc.go.ke). You create an account, fill in the declaration and upload the required documents. Follow the instructions on the portal, and keep a copy of your submission.

What the EACC checks

The Commission checks its records for matters such as ongoing corruption or economic crimes investigations, cases and integrity concerns. It then sends its report to the employer that asked for it. You do not receive a separate certificate.

Tips for job seekers

  • Submit early: employers request reports on shortlisted candidates within set timelines.
  • Tell the truth on the form. False declarations are themselves an offence.
  • Some employers ask you to bring your stamped copy to the interview. Keep it with your other clearance documents.

Processes and fees change from time to time. Always follow the instructions on the official website, and never pay anyone who offers to "speed up" a clearance for you.
